Awards

The awards administered by CGPS are described at the CGPS Awards Hub (https://usask.academicworks.ca/). For these awards, the student themselves must initiate the application for these awards through the Awards Hub – once they have started the application, the system will contact the supervisor and other references.

There are also four departmental awards:

For students convocating in the spring, or who convocated last fall). The winner of this award is the student who has shown outstanding research performance at the Ph.D. Level.

This award will be given to a current Ph.D. student who has actively participated/volunteered in activities and events on campus, or whose actions and contributions have added to the quality and reputation of our department.

What is the process?

  1. Students who wish to be nominated for a departmental award should contact their supervisors.
  2. If the supervisor supports the nomination, they (supervisors) must notify the department by Tuesday, March 31.
  3. The department will then request supporting materials from the student.
  4. Please note that all departmental awards require a letter of support from the supervisor, with a submission deadline of Friday, April 3, 2026.
